What is a Noise / Sound Control Barrier? How does it work?
Noise Control Barriers are panels or acoustic walls which have the capability to block and absorb noise.
Being made of specialised absorptive materials, together with solid mediums, a noise barrier is able to attain both absorptive and reflective characteristics.
When installed near noise sources, Sound Control Barrier absorbs and reflects noise, helping to prevent significant amounts of noise from escaping to unwanted areas.
Why are the Noise Control Barriers installed?
They are installed to help the contractors comply with NEA’s Boundary Noise Limits by reducing noise to an acceptable level, avoiding disputes with nearby residents and lawsuit or heavy fine (up to S$40 000) for contractors who fail to comply with NEA’s noise requirements.
More importantly, the Sound Barriers are installed to protect public health, reduce noise pollution and help companies to contribute to Sustainability.
What is a Portable Noise Control Barrier (PTNCB)?
Portable or Mobile Noise / Sound Control Barrier is a groundbreaking design of Temporary Noise Control Barrier (TNCB).
In addition to its ability to achieve the same performance as TNCB, PTNCB is designed to meet the clients’ need for a type of Noise Barrier with minimal complexity in dismantling and reinstallation, which other Sound Barrier products have not been able to effectively resolve.
Jinbiao TP series consists of PTNCB Type 1, Type 2, Type 3, Type 4 and Type 5. Each product has its own advantages to fulfill our clients’ diverse needs.
How effective the Portable Noise Control Barriers are when dealing with noise issues?
With excellent Performance Properties of Sound Transmission Class (STC) 27 and Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) 0.7, Hebei Jinbiao PTNCB receives the pass rate of 100% for all the noise tests conducted by NEA.
Certain projects that require temporary noise mitigation will also find this product useful. Its light weight, good performance and easy installation makes it an ideal choice for any projects with active construction works ongoing.
The PTNCB can also act as a dust net, which is extremely useful in construction sites.

STC: 27
Sound Transmission Class (STC) refers to the amount of airborne ‘sound’ being blocked.
STC 27 would reflect the approximate decibel reduction in noise/sound that our TNCB can provide. – i.e 27dbA reduction potential.
NRC: 0.7
Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) refers to the amount of sound energy absorbed upon ‘contacting’ a surface.
NRC 0.7 would reflect the approximate decibel absorption of noise/sound that our TNCB is able to perform. – i.e 70% of noise absorbed.
How long can the PTNCB last?
Our PTNCBs can last up to 5 years*, which is sufficient enough to cover the length of short-term projects.

Attached on wheels, it allows the mitigation system to be movable with minimal effort.

PTNCB Type 2
The Aluminium shell makes the whole system light (25kgs per set). When it needs to be shifted, minimum manpower is required.

PTNCB Type 3
The stand allows the system to be fixed on the ground firmly and let the customers adjust the height when needed.

PTNCB Type 4

Are PTNCBs reusable?
Yes, Hebei Jinbiao PTNCBs are reusable. Most of our products on site will still produce acceptable performance capability, therefore, this is a cost-effective investment.
Can Hebei Jinbiao PTNCBs be customised?
Yes, Hebei Jinbiao offers Customisation for most of our products. Our Customisation progress will follow the procedure below:
- Our Noise Control specialists will visit the project sites and take note of site restrictions and customer specific requirements
- The PTNCBs will be designed based on the information gathered
- During installation, our Noise Control specialists will continue to modify the PTNCBs until they are able to meet all requirements
